  • Directions For Use

Step 1: Cone Fit
-Select gutta percha cone that fits within 1mm of Working Length (WL)
-Trim 0.5mm from the tip
-Note: Do not use sealer for this step
*You should feel tugback

Step 2: Plugger Fit
-Choose the Obtura Spartan Heat Plugger which most closely matches the taper of the prepared canal
-Place the Plugger into the canal until it binds
-Note: Plugger tip should be approximately 3-5mm short of WL
-Move the rubber stopper to indicate the maximum length to advance the heat plugger

Step 3: Condense Cone with Hand Plugger
-Coat the gutta percha cone from Step 1 with sealer and push it as far into the canal as possible
*Tip should be approximately 0.5mm from WL
-Use the MaxPack to sear off excess cone material at the canal orifice
-Use a hand plugger (S-Kondenser) to condense the cone

Step 4:  Condense the Cone with the MaxPack and Appropriate Heat Plugger
-Activate the heater buttons to bring the Obtura Spartan Heat Plugger to the desired temperature
-Advance the Heat Plugger apically unttil reaching the depth indicated by the rubber stop (set in Step 2)
-Release the heater button to allow the Heat Plugger to begin cooling, while at the same time holding sustained apical pressure, hold for 5 seconds
*Note: If there is a tendency for the cone to come out with the Plugger - activate the heater switch to heat the Plugger again (allow it time to reach set temperature) before removing Plugger from the canal

Step 5:  Condense With Hand Condenser
-Use a small hand plugger to condense the remaining plug of gutta percha apically

Step 6:  Backfill
-Backfill gutta percha to the canal orifice level with the Obtura III Max Heated Gutta Percha System
